Steps to growth: Growing closer to God

Steps to growth

  • Write down the date of your decision. If you have a printer, print a copy of these pages. If you begin to doubt whether all this is real, remember back to this date.

Read these pages again, and refresh in your mind the decision you made. Salvation is not a feeling. It is a fact. God in His Word has made it clear how we can be saved. If you did what he says to do (believe, trust him, turn from your way and surrender to him), then he has saved you, and you are His. Nothing can ever take that away from you.

  • Think of someone that would be happy to know of the decsion you have just made. Share your decision with that person as soon as possible.

  • Find a church that teaches this free gift of salvation as God does in His Word. Ask God to help you find the right church. You need the fellowship and strength of meeting together with God's people.

  • God wants to talk to you each day. This is just the beginning of a wonderful experience with Him. Begin to read God's Word each day. Start with the book of St. John.

  • Talk to Him in prayer. You can talk to Him just like you talk to your best friend. Tell Him just how you feel. You can be honest with Him. He understands, and He stands ready to help. No one ever loved you like He does.

  • See How to Establish a Daily Quiet Time for more help in this area. This link will take you to a different website, in a new browser. You may find additional helps for Christian growth in other areas of the new website as well.
